I wrote this for a different scenario (rendered content, H.264/HEVC) earlier this year I believe most of it is relevant for your question, though, so I'll just paste it verbatim: How to play: Just download latest K-Lite player or use mplayer or VLC 360p being possible with only a bitrate of 29kbps is pretty insane to me. I have to say, I am very surprised with the quality of AV1 at those extreme bitrates. I actually couldn't make it in webm container cause webm adds additional 151KB just from the container: and that barely went over the 8MB limit :(īut since I was using Matroska container that was smaller, I was even able to include the soft subs and still be under 8MB with 12KB to spare :D And I managed to make it look quite decently in 360p with decent audio and subtitles, fit within the 8MB container: Looking at the recent memes with Shrek I wanted to experiment if it would be possible to create actual anime episodes in 8MB.
